Binance hack is 'cyber war,' TRM Labs executive says

Binance suffered a $6.3 billion hack, which TRM Labs attributed to the North Korean group TraitorTrader, the same group linked to the $1.5 billion Bybit hack in February 2025. Binance said attackers posed as recruiters to plant malware on an engineer's computer, then used a compromised internal AI tool to reach its wallet-signing service. Tether froze 971.1 million USDT 37 minutes after the main sweep, and stablecoin issuers froze about $2.67 billion in total, roughly 40% of the stolen funds.
