Binance hackers used fake interviews and social media profiles in $6.3bn heist

Binance revealed that attackers behind the $6.3bn theft used fake job interviews and social media profiles to trick engineers into downloading malicious code. The FBI attributed the heist to TraderTraitor, a North Korean-linked hacking group, in what it called the biggest crypto exchange theft on record. Binance said it has detected and neutralized 57 suspected North Korean cyber threats in 2026 and is rebuilding security systems with external experts.
