Binance says $6.3bn stolen in biggest crypto heist in history: What we know
Binance reports $6.3bn stolen in what appears to be the largest crypto heist on record, with the company suspending deposits and withdrawals while pledging to cover all losses. Blockchain analysis firms TRM Labs and Chainalysis attribute the attack to North Korean hackers linked to the Lazarus Group, with about $3bn of the stolen funds already frozen by stablecoin issuers. The theft occurred over approximately 20 minutes on Thursday across 10 blockchains, dwarfing the previous record of $1.5bn stolen from Bybit in February 2025.
