Binance says hackers plotted US$6.3 billion heist for months

Binance suffered a US$6.3 billion theft where hackers spent months preparing, luring an engineer with a fake job interview and planting malicious code on his work computer. Hackers used the compromised computer and Binance's internal AI tool to access wallet team engineers' systems, then deployed software to drain hot wallets over nearly four hours. FBI attributed the attack to North Korean hacking unit TraderTraitor; Binance said it would cover customer losses, replenished 98% of affected tokens, and will bring in external security firms to review the attack.
