Binance says hackers used fake job interviews and AI tools to steal $6.3 billion in record crypto heist

Hackers stole $6.34 billion from Binance on October 29 using fake job interviews, malicious coding assignments, and a compromised internal AI tool to infiltrate systems over months. The FBI attributed the theft to North Korean hackers associated with the TraderTraitor group; attackers gained access to wallet-signing infrastructure and drained multiple cryptocurrencies including XRP, Bitcoin, Solana, and Ethereum. Binance has replenished 98% of affected assets as of October 31.
