Binance says hackers used fake job interviews and an internal AI tool to pull off the $6.3 billion heist
Binance says hackers used fake job interviews and malware to compromise multiple engineers' devices over several months, starting with a tampered installer in June. Attackers used Binance's own internal AI tool to gain control of wallets by October 20th, then executed the $6.3 billion theft on October 29th. Binance recovered or froze $2.85 billion of stolen assets and says no users are bearing losses, with 98% of impacted tokens already replenished.
