Bon Secours nears $6bn takeover of Bain-backed Surgery Partners

Bon Secours Mercy Health is in late-stage talks to acquire a majority stake in Surgery Partners at roughly $20 per share, valuing the group at about $6bn including $3.5bn in debt. Bain Capital, which has held a minority stake since 2017, will retain its approximately 40% shareholding in the take-private deal. The acquisition would accelerate Bon Secours' expansion into outpatient care, with Surgery Partners operating 176 surgery centres and hospitals across 30 US states.
