Brazil's Biggest Bitcoin Exchange Says It Will Refund Users After a $40 Million Hack

Mercado Bitcoin, Brazil's largest crypto exchange, suffered a $40 million hack on November 2 and pledged to refund users rather than pass losses to customers. The exchange froze deposits and withdrawals, claiming no customer data leaked and customer assets remain secure in their accounts. Security firms reported between $38-49 million in suspicious transfers across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Tron, with $11 million already blocked through partnerships with Tether, Circle, and other firms.
