Core Scientific Plans Full Exit from Bitcoin Mining as AI Colocation Becomes Dominant
Core Scientific plans to finish winding down its remaining self-mining operations in Q4 2026 and enter 2027 as a pure-play high-density colocation provider for AI and HPC workloads. Colocation revenue was $215.4 million of $232.9 million total in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, while self-mining and hosted-mining revenue totaled $17.5 million. Contracted capacity is about 1.1 gigawatts across CoreWeave and AMD-backed agreements, projected to support roughly $1.8 billion in average annual run-rate revenue once delivered.
