Crypto platform Binance confirms major hack with more than $2.5bn frozen

Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, confirmed a major hack with Chainalysis estimating approximately $5.912 billion stolen, nearly four times larger than the previous record $1.5 billion Bybit hack in February 2025. The company suspended all deposits and withdrawals for security checks; Tether froze $1.6 billion and Circle froze over $800 million in stablecoins related to the incident. Bitcoin fell nearly 5%, Ethereum dropped nearly 6%, and BNB tumbled nearly 10% following the announcement.
