Ethereum dev targets 2028 for quantum resistance, a year early

Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake announced an accelerated timeline to achieve quantum resistance by December 2028, one year earlier than the foundation's previously stated December 2029 deadline. Drake stated developers have 24 months to deliver three additional network upgrades across Ethereum's execution, consensus, and data layers. The accelerated timeline has drawn scrutiny from other blockchain developers, with Starknet exploring independent post-quantum capabilities and StarkWare's CEO warning that Ethereum's original 2029 deadline was already too late.
