Kalshi hit with injunction over sports contracts on California tribal lands

A federal judge granted a preliminary injunction barring Kalshi from offering sports-event contracts on the lands of Blue Lake Rancheria and the Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians. The order covers contracts tied to football, basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, and UFC events; the tribes must provide boundary maps by Nov. 13 and Kalshi must report compliance steps within 21 days. The tribes sued in July 2025 claiming the contracts are unauthorized Class III gaming, and a Ninth Circuit panel partially reversed the earlier denial of the injunction in September.
