Keystone breach deepens: Hackers stole key used to verify wallets as genuine
Keystone hardware wallet maker disclosed that attackers who breached its website stole an authentication key used to verify device genuineness, potentially allowing creation of counterfeit wallets that pass authenticity checks. The company plans to destroy 18,835 devices with the compromised key and suspend production shipments until new authentication keys are implemented. Keystone also confirmed 25,964 customer records from 2024-2026 were stolen due to a failed automated data deletion tool, plus 12,873 incomplete checkout records retained by Shopify.
