(LEAD) N. Korean hackers blamed for record US$6.36 bln Binance cryptocurrency theft: U.S. firm

North Korean hacking group TraderTraitor allegedly stole $6.36 billion from Binance across 10 blockchain networks in about 20 minutes, the largest cryptocurrency theft on record according to TRM Labs. About $2.7 billion in stolen assets have been frozen, but hackers still control roughly $2.4 billion in Bitcoin and Ethereum. Binance CEO Richard Teng said the company will cover all hacked losses with its own funds and has reserved $6.34 billion for this purpose.
