Ledger 9 upgrade unlocks signature support and composable contracts on mainnet
The Midnight network executed a hard fork upgrading mainnet from Ledger 8 to Ledger 9, adding expanded functionality and security improvements. Existing balances and deployed contracts migrate automatically; apps must move to Midnight.js 5, and undeployed contracts must be compiled with the updated Compact toolchain targeting Ledger 9. The release adds native Keccak-256 and ECDSA support, accepts ECDSA signatures alongside Schnorr, implements BIP-44 address derivation, and enables cross-contract calls within a single transaction.
