Major DeFi lender Aave reopens after Binance hack
Aave reopened lending markets Friday after freezing 292 reserves following a Binance hack, with pools reopening across multiple networks between 8:21 a.m. and 9:23 a.m. ET. Before reopening, Aave cut borrowing limits on 27 pools by approximately $3.7 billion on V3 and $130 million on V4 to reduce risk exposure. High utilization rates caused borrowing costs to spike to 20.2% for USDC and 36.1% for mUSD on some networks before Aave lowered interest rate settings.
