Mercado Bitcoin says phased reopening to begin Monday, will cover losses

Mercado Bitcoin will begin phased account access restoration Monday after a $46 million hack, starting with view-only access to balances and holdings. The exchange pledged to cover losses using company funds and said $15 million in stolen assets have already been frozen. Mercado Bitcoin cited a strong cash position including a $20 million investment from Tether to support the recovery and operational expansion.
