North Korea denies being behind $6.3bn Binance crypto hack

North Korea denied allegations it orchestrated a record $6.3bn hack of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, calling the accusations an 'absurd rhetoric' and a 'sinister attempt' by the US to damage its image. The FBI, Secret Service, and cyber analysts have attributed the hack to North Korean state-backed hacking group TraderTraitor, also known as Lazarus Group, which was previously blamed for a $1.5bn Bybit hack in 2025.
