Robinhood profit misses estimates as crypto trading slows
Robinhood missed Q3 profit estimates with earnings of 51 cents per share versus expected 55 cents, as cryptocurrency transaction revenue fell 55% to $120 million year-over-year. Stock fell 7% after-hours on the miss, though overall transaction-based revenue rose 19% to $867 million driven by sixfold increase in event-contracts revenue and 31% jump in options revenue. Operating expenses rose 16% to $739 million due to higher credit-loss provisions, spending on new businesses, and increased marketing, while crypto markets faced pressure from volatility and outflows.
