South Korea's ruling party wants to delay its crypto tax again

South Korea's ruling Democratic Party wants to delay its cryptocurrency tax by two more years, which would be the fourth postponement since the tax was first due in 2022. The tax on virtual asset gains is currently scheduled to take effect in January 2027 with a 20% rate plus 2% local levy on profits above 2.5 million won. The delay is being driven by timing with an international crypto tax information exchange system due in 2029 and pending Digital Asset Framework legislation expected in early 2027.
