Standard Chartered and SBI back crypto insurance firm

SC Ventures (Standard Chartered's venture arm) and SBI have joined Soter Insure's Series B round as strategic investors, with the round led by Galaxy; the round size was not disclosed. Soter Insure sells insurance for digital assets, including crime, specie, professional indemnity, D&O, smart contract failure and slashing coverage, and can denominate policies in crypto. Soter's CEO Henson Orser said banks cannot scale in digital assets without risk protection, which is currently scarce, and the new capital will expand underwriting capacity and reach in Asia-Pacific, Europe and the U.S.
