Thailand moves to block Bitget as crypto exchange's local acquisition faces uncertainty

Thailand's SEC filed a criminal complaint against Bitget's operator, BG Limited, accusing it of offering crypto trading in Thailand without a license from 2022 to 2025. The SEC asked the government to block Bitget's website and app from Dec. 5 and urged users to plan for assets held on the platform. Bitget is seeking approval to acquire licensed exchange GMO-Z via BTGT Management (Thailand); the share transfer was delayed from Oct. 31 to Nov. 30, and the SEC has not said whether its complaint affects the deal.
