What we know about the $6.3bn Binance hack
Binance suffered a $6.3bn hack, the largest in crypto exchange history, after hackers compromised a DevOps engineer's laptop to submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. North Korean unit TraderTraitor has been linked to the attack; hackers stole nearly 200 different cryptocurrencies across multiple blockchains including Solana, Ethereum, and Tron. Binance says it will reimburse all affected users through its $1.2bn emergency reserve fund plus $6.34bn in company funds, with $2.8bn in stablecoins already frozen by Circle and Tether.
