XRP Ledger developers propose creating wallets with zero XRP for stablecoin payments

XRP Ledger developers proposed SponsoredAccountCreate transaction allowing accounts to be created with zero XRP by having a sponsor cover the 1 XRP minimum reserve requirement. The feature would enable payment applications and AI agents to operate wallets without pre-funding them with XRP, useful for stablecoin payments through Ripple's partnership with Privy. The proposal requires validator approval; the sponsorship amendment had 11 of 35 votes needed as of Oct. 19, with 29 required for activation on mainnet.
