Zcash NU7 upgrade goes live, leaves 12,224 ZEC stranded in Sprout pool

Zcash's NU7 network upgrade activated at block 3,543,405 at 02:34 UTC, per blockchain tracker ZecStats. About 12,224 ZEC (roughly $15 million) held in the legacy Sprout shielded pool became unspendable, since NU7 rejects version 4 transactions, the only format that supports spending Sprout funds. The coins have not been burned, and a future upgrade could restore access, though the specification warns it may never be re-enabled.
