🚨 Binance appears to have been hacked, and the numbers are historic. Starting 20:24 UTC on Oct 29, Binance hot wallets were drained into a fresh wallet: about 167,000 ETH, roughly 1.6B USDT and 60+ other tokens from the Binance 14 wallet alone. Total outflow estimates range from $2.5B to $3.5B, still unconfirmed. CZ: "User funds are safe. It does look like a hack on Binance." He expects all user funds to be fully covered. Binance says funds are completely safe and it is investigating urgently, while some users hit withdrawal issues the exchange calls a technical error. Tether froze over $1.567B in USDT and Circle froze over $800M in USDC. Frozen is not recovered though, and ETH cannot be frozen like stablecoins. BTC dropped from $80,770 to $78,475, with over $600M liquidated in an hour. $BNB took the hardest hit among majors. The final confirmed loss and withdrawal restoration are what matter now. And beware: fake support and phishing links will flood in. Binance hot wallets on Ethereum were drained this afternoon. Our risk team has been tracing the funds since the first transfer. The Binance wallet that was drained held no positions in any market our vaults lend into, on Ethereum or BNB Chain. We followed the funds to the attacker’s downstream wallets and checked each one against Morpho activity on Ethereum. We have not identified any borrowing from our vaults but will continue monitoring. USDT, USDC, XAUt and WLFI held at the attacker’s address are frozen ($1.8B). Compound has frozen its markets too. Our vaults now take no stablecoins as collateral, and they have no supply in markets backed by ENA, UNI, LINK, AAVE, PEPE, ONDO, PAXG or wBETH. As a precaution, our Lista vaults on BNB Chain withdrew liquidity from a number of markets. We’ll decide market by market when to resupply. What’s left is price exposure to ETH and WBTC on Ethereum and to BTCB on BNB Chain, which is holding its peg. Gauntlet
